Hello everyone,

I am planning to buy a Mini-DAC~
However, I have a question about its power supply.

Can I change it to other better power transformer (the same voltage supplying to the Mini-DAC) instead of the original one in order to get a better audio performance??

I have seen that the Apogee PS1000 can be used as a power supply with the Mini-DAC. Is it worth getting one with a view to having a better audio performance?

About the power supply unit (12V DC with 1.25A), can anyone introduce me some PSUs that meet the requirement?

Thanks a lot~~~

Maybe get a 12V gel-cell and recharge it off-line? You won't find a quieter supply. The circuits in the DAC should work down to 9V, maybe lower.

I use a palmtop power supply to power a couple of little things, including a Tivoli radio. Quiet, and good current output (2.5A @ 12V). Auction site link to one below.

EDIT: Looks like the Mini-DAC works all the way down to 6V in. Battery looks better and better, if you don't mind the hassle of charging it.

according to the designer lucas the mini dac has hardcore power conditioning inside so there shouldn't be huge sound improvement if you use a 'better' power supply...
