Since I will not be making another pair of these due to the time involved, I thought some may be interested in taking a look. Upon arrival I took a quick listen to stock A900's to gauge where they might be improved. The D.A.D.S. (Double Air Damping System) inside the stock cups is not my idea of more than a way to inhibit sound potential, goodbye to that. I recabled and woodied 'em up and this is the result...

Safe to say they have improved in sound to where I gave them hours of listening. I will probably have them at the next Seattle area meet if anyone is interested in hearing them.

That's easy, quite sure! Quote:

What type of wood is that

Paduak

Was fabricating the actual woodies more time-consuming, or taking the cans apart, and getting them back together properly?

Yes... no... just the pads since the tuck in part is not of the quality of say, CD3K pads.

so they are fully closed now?

Still are, yes

I suppose you'd want the woody DT770/80's too? (they're next btw).

Better bass, better mids, better highs, better soundstage but no miracles, they still are A900's...

These are aesthetically more beautiful than my W1000's. How does the larger chamber effect the sound --I know you can't compare them to the W's but my guess is they open up the sound and give a wider soundstage. Correct? By the way, you have made me very jealous.
