A900 vs AD900

Based on personal experience with the A900, and what I've read from people who own both the A900 and AD900, I would say the A900 is not even in the same league as the AD900.

Meaning that the A900 is a league above or a league below the AD900

Oh and I don't mind that the AD900's bass isn't as big or boomy as the A900's, in fact I prefer tighter and faster bass for the music I listen to. And for gaming, I don't mind if the bass is good for explosions or any of that, as long as they serve their purpose as having great 3D positioning and a clean sound.

Hah, nice.

I wouldn't need an amp for either one (as I have read, anyways, and by looking at the impedance there's nothing to suggest to me that they might need one), but would it help lend the A/AD900 bass? Which amp would be good for this, if any? Budget is around 100$ for the amp...but willing to stretch.

I just picked up the A900s and they sounded like pig farts out of my iPod. Out of my E-MU 0404 (with built in amp), they improved dramatically. I'm listening to Brass Monkey by the Beastie Boys....tons of bass!!!

As of all AT's cans, the A version is not going to be as good as the AD version even though thay share the same number. The few things an A version is better than an AD version are the bass and isolation (as it is closed), but on the sacrifice on overall SQ.
