You would have to hear them yourself. The impressions on this forum are all over the map on the differences. I am on the side of big differences but others disagree. I even have mine balanced.

ok, is it worth in your opinion is it worth the extra $100, and from reading some of your threads you enjoy the 900s more then your w1000s correct?

Edit: well nvm it doesnt look like i can afford them so im just going to have to get the normal A900's

I own both the A900s and A900LTDs and IMO feel it was worth it for the types of music that I listen to. I also prefer the LTDs over the W1000s on certain types of music. Like slwiser has stated there are many impressions and opinions posted in the various threads here. Some feel it's not worth the extra money if the LTDs aren't a night and day difference from the A900s. While others feel even if it's a little difference between the two, as long the LTDs makes your music listen a little more enjoyable it's worth it. If you have heard the A900s and are happy with what you here, chances are you're better off staying with them and save your money. If you want an improvement in sound quality, even though it may not be a night and day difference to some then go ahead and pull the trigger on one.

If this is your first real serious set of headphones and want a pair that really sounds great IMO with many different types of music and can afford them then I say go for the LTDs, you won't be disappointed. At $290 that's a pretty good price considering they can resell here in the headphone FS forum for $300+. They don't require an amp to sound good because they are easy to drive. They sound great while listening to music or watching movies with them. They are one of the most comfortable headphones IMO out there as I can wear them for hours and not have an issue with them.
