i cant choose between these 2 cans. they will primarily be used for games and music at home and at lan partys. I have very loud pc fans so which has better isolation? also which provides a better better sound stage for gaming? anyone with experience with either of these phones, your opionion would be apreciated.

a500 don't have good isolation..but most likely they will block out your fans when ur music/games are playing. The hd-280 have the best isolation in its class.

I own the a500, and to be honest with you i wish i would have just spent the 80 dollars on hd280's and bought a pair of ksc75 or sr-60's for some open air listening.

Or if your insane enough like 99.9% of the people in here just invest more money and either get the A900's or the DT770/80s or even that new 32 ohm model.

Let us know what you decide.

I like consider myself a sane individual.

for open air listening i enjoy the px100 however the fans/and talking detract from the listening experience. since you have the a500 how would you say they compare to the hd280 SQ wise?

Well I never owned the HD280's, but a lot of the users said they were "boring" But IMO the A500's aren't that exciting either. However, according to people the A500/A900 are the best headphone you can use for gamming, the reason is the sound stage. Meaning, how accurately you can locate the dudes thats are crawling up behind you to stab u with a knife and kill u.
