today was one of those days where all the head-fi stars fell into place and i remember why i love doing this stuff...a day where the love of music once again reigns...

i had a bad experience with the 40gig 4g ipod i picked up last week (hissing problem) and returned it yesterday and picked up another one. came home to find my sr-71 from todd waiting for me. first checked out the ipod...perfect, no hiss. then hooked it up to this little beast and WOW! i haven't heard my er4s sing like this since i last had my pocket reference, which was about two months ago. the bass is simply fabulous...whoever said these (the etys) don't have enough bass are probably not supplying them with enough good juice. the music is terrific and as rachael yamagata growls inside my head, i'm just smiling. music can sound really good...and isn't that why we do this stuff? sniff...wipe away tear...

but to add to that, my fixed-up pocket reference should be here any day now with pot changes, opamp fix, and some "custom" additions to the already deluxe PR i had. a review may be forthcoming if i ever take time off from simply listening to the music

like i said, a very good amp day indeed...

My SR-71 arrived today from Todd as well. I was so thrilled! It only took 2 days to ship Priority Mail from Montana to Virginia. The little amp is spectacular, my Senn 650's are singing, though I plan to use this amp with portable phones. But it sounds superb even with my best phones. I also love the build quality and silkscreen graphics. Cool piece of work, tons of music in that little case. Now, who wants to buy my Go Vibe, which is also very good and a lot cheaper?

My superdual has yet to come in, and I am worried about my headphone situation. As it stands right now, my 595's are VERY anemic on bass, but clarity is immaculate. With my supedual, will my 595s shine, or will I need something to the degree of the sr-71? I am hating the lack of low end sound I am getting from these sennheisers.

Also relating to the sr-71, is there a way to power it from the wall, or is it 9v only?

Man, you guy's really pis# me off..

I've been reading all this stuff about the SR-71 for the last few months and trying to use all my will power to just say no ...

Well, I just got off the phone with Todd, and it looks like I failed miserably...he's shipping one out to me immediately.

You guys are really getting on my nerves...
