Edit: Resurrected from the dead...

I own both the RS1 and GS1000. Where do you think the HF2's will fit in the sound sig department?

Thinking of picking up a pair, but am just a bit uncertain with the other cans that I already have.

Do you think the differences would warrant such a purchase?

Forget the differences. The HF-1 isn't that different from the RS-1 and I'm happy to have both.

Even if the HF-2 sounds like my other Grados, I'll still keep it.

I guess this is a question that is more directed towards HF-1 owners since Todd has already mentioned that the HF-2s are like a "more refined version of the HF-1s."

x2. I've pre-ordered a pair HF-2 to go with my HF-1 and RS-1s.

I was doing some A/Bing of my RS-1 and HF-1 last night in preparation for the new Grados. They sound very similar but to me the HF-1 sounds smoother while the RS-1 sounds fuller.

Let's see...
Cost: GS1000 > RS1 > HF1
You like: HF1 > RS1 > GS1000

Based on that trend, I think I'll stick with my MS1!!

(I'm sure the RS1 >>> MS1, but probably not 7 times better...)

hmmm.. GS1000 is trully special and doesn't fit with the rest of grado line.

HF2 probably will be closer to RS1 than to GS1000

of course everyone's just speculating.

Yeah. You're right.

I'll just bring up this thread from the dead in about two weeks.

Cheers.

Exactly! In the meantime, it's completely pointless for people to talk about what the HF-2 will sound like. At this point, Jude, Todd and John Grado are the only ones who even know what they look like or what materials they're made out of!

Although, come to think about it, it would be interesting to see who replies to this thread with detailed theories as to where the HF-2 will fall in the Grado lineup in terms of sound signature. If nothing else, that would allow me to add more people to my "ignore impressions" list.

So far, I've been spot on PREDICTING listening impressions - let's see if anyone comes up with this:

"The HF-2 is a welcome addition to my headphone collection. It truly is a more refined version of the HF-1 - there is a clarity to the music, a layering of sounds, that its predecessor was lacking. I'd compare it to the RS-1's myself, though not quite standing up to the bottoned RS-1's of yore, which are clearly superior. When it comes to sound signature, the highs are engaging, and the mids extremely detailed, with slight warmth. I was surprised with the bass extension as well! Bowls are a must, flats just killed the 'liveliness'. Speaking of, this was a night-and-day difference when coming from my GS1000's!!! A great rock can, the HF-2's had my foot tapping the whole way through. Before I knew it, it was 3am, and I had re-listened through half of my CD collection!"

Given that there's not a single john grado headphone that sounds like the hp1000s, I'd say it will also not sound anything like the hp1000s.
