Hi,

I've looked around for the following information, but I've found conflicting reports. Here goes:

I know you can't upload to the computer, but can you title tracks from your computer if they are on the minidisc but not the computer (I record a lot of LPs to minidisc and it would be nice to be able to title them from the computer and not the jog dial on my home deck)?

I havent actually go my MD yet but as far as i can see the OPENMG software allows you to do all your titling etc, track spliting .....

It also does allow you to copy tracks from your md to your pc, in a process called checking out, you can then copy it back out to upto 3 minidiscs at a time. If you wanted to put it on a 4th disc you would need to checkin the track from one of the other 3 first.

Haven't got my NetMD yet either, but I think fbleagh's right about the track titles. Can title from the OpenMG software.

You can upload from the player to the computer, but it's realtime copying, not the fast copying that NetMD lets you do from the computer to the player. Don't know why they didn't incorporate two-way functionality.

Which player/recorder are you thinking of getting?

You can title but cannot split tracks on your MD with OpenMG. You have to do the splitting on the PC before using OpenMG or split it directly using your MD unit.

You can also title [and erase] tracks on your MD using the Simple Burner or "Quick Rip" program. It's a little less of a hassle than using OpenMG.
