hi folks,

from all the things I have benefitted from this forum, I decided to post my feedback on my gear.

The GS1000 is technically my 1st and only audiophile headphone.

I was intially in love with the MS2i because it just makes everything (almost) sounds so sweet... and it had a pretty forward sound projection (totally in my view)

then, I had abit more money and decided to listen to the GS1000 as I had a very good deal... and well, it's kind of sharp on the high frequencies, which can be pretty shrilly when not paired properly. In the meantime, the bass is pretty much all over the place... when paired with a lousy source, let's say, my samsung AAA battery powered MP3 player. That said, it is very Transparent, Natural Sounding, Airy (with a wide soundstage) while remaining very Detailed even at Low Volumes. It's pretty Laidback too, imagine in a concert hall, u would most probably be sitting at the students' or senior citizen concession row... BUT BUT if u like me likes instruments, bop, etc and vocals, females, and drums, kudo.... u may like to disregard what Everyone says about GS1000 and just go sample one yourself.

cause, it's pretty the opposite end of the senns, and u never know if u do actually like such a sound.

My decision to own a more expensive gear, is because I recognise I would never own the top 10 best gear, but I would not own the Bottom 10 worst gear too. It saves alot of money to choose something u like, save, work, con, rob for it, instead of going through sound systems that are slightly cheaper but not what u want...

ok, so i had a tube amp, it was a 'mickey mouse' set-up, and i re-affirm my philosophy, settle for quality products and not cheap cost-down products which may contain a fraction of what i really desire... after all, if i don't womanise, smoke cigar, no whiskey, i can use the funds to buy a few decent DA ****, know what i mean?

over time, i decided to sell all that i have, and just keep my GS1000. And no kidding, even listening directly from a low end mp3 player, i was happy, because the sonic signatures of the GS1000 was the reason why i fell in love with her, she's transparent, detailed... characteristics i clearly love...

i gotten abit of funds accumulated and decided... if i have the money, i want to get a set of decent bk shelves speakers like the B&W 805...

and as such, i started to hunt for a DAC.

as I got no headphone amp, amp and dac, even no cd player too.

i narrowed down to the choice of

1. short term, PC source music system

2. long term, SLIM DEVICES music system... with the 24 bits thingy, that surely BEAT any CDP ... (purely my view)

currently i have a nice computer.

and so i decided to get either

1. Lavry DA10, even though it is bloody ugly...

2. Benchmark DAC1, even though after it's styling job, it got uglier than the un-designed DA10

3. Stello DA100 / HP100, nice nice,

4. Bel Canto DAC3 (out of budget)

5. Stello DA220 (Ugly and Out of Budget , plus supposely 1 grade higher than Lavry)

6. Grace M902... man, thank GOD, ALLAH, BUDDHLA, KRISHNA, JEWISH GOD, for USB (but they are UGLIER , very OUT OF BUDGET, and supposely 1 more grade higher than DA220)

I wanted to get the Stello DA100 / HP100, but a friend was selling the DA10 at a very nice price....

and DA10 would fit in my long term plan of ... becoming a DAC only and probably balanced route ....

when I got enough $$$ for a Woo Audio Maxxed Out or Yamamoto...

ok , that's all.

just one note,

don't compare too much.

I think I have 1 good habit,

I accept that the things i buy, gets pawned with time.

so when i buy them... i tell myself, that i have to buy her because of who she is , and so even if better stuff come out, such as Ed9, I think it's ok, cause I still remember what made me like the GS1000.

I hope this is a good tip to prevent un-neccessary up-grading.

yes, I LOVE MY LAVRY DA10, everything opened up.... of course, it's a total improvement for me, because i don't have any good systems to start off with.

but the gs1000 and da10 are gonna be friends for a long time... for the rest of their time, if i can help it,

right? gs1000? (u do like your new friend, Black DA10 right?)

ok, that's all for now.

over and out.
