Before I kick this thing off, I need to let everyone understand that I have learning difficulties, writing issues when it comes to more in-depth posts and that there will be some details missed. I will do my best to make sure there is as much information as I can possibly put in, based off this thread:
The Flying Kiwi's HE-1 Listen
The day before it all started...
In this photo, we are all tired, hungry and want to get some food.
An hour went by, and we eventually went to a pub! This is where we got our first expereince with the lovely Sennheiser reps to get some dinner, and have our first proper talk to them. I managed to get beef on top of mashed potato, and man it was amazing! I never took a photo, because I am forgetful and really hungry. But I will chase up the name of the pub from one of the reps later to put here!
After it all, we went to our rooms and slept.
The big day...
I need to also inform everyone here, we could not take any photo's of inside the factory, but for good reason! They had a film crew that day, and the film crew was going to take photos, film and so of everyone to use on social media. We were all happy with that.
Very impressive seeing this! I did not expect the voice coil of their IEMs to be that thin.
So, I will do my best to explain what we saw and did.
Upon entry of the factory, we had to wear these microphones that would let us hear the voice of the boss/tour guide! He was very clear, straight to the point and let us see the inner workings of everything. Walking through, we got to see the automated system of their SYS 38 and SYS 40 drivers, that contained such incredible machinery. The drivers are completely automated, from the glueing to the testing. The machines are customised, and let me tell you as a nerd for this thing I was impressed! They went down a lane of various workings, but if something did fail it would be taken out and binned. They use a lacquer that later gets burnt off, all machine done.
Later on, we got to build our own HD650's! It was a very enjoyable but brief time, however we all picked up on it very quickly and managed to make some of our own for later (which they didn't tell us then haha!)
And finally... the HE-1 listening experience! Let me tell you it was a wonderful time, and I never heard The Chain by Fleetwood Mac so good. WIth various other tracks as well, that one stuck to me. The vocal presentation was beyond anything I have heard, hearing how emotional the singers felt in those tracks. It was beautiful.
Once we all finished up, had some lunch, the reps and guides came to us with an HD650 we all were able to keep.
It was truly a day to remember, and I will never forget it.
But that's not all!
The reps took us to a Whiskey distillery and tasting! And boy... I am not a fan of whiskey ahaha. But the experience, the histroy behind the distillery, and everything we saw made it worth it.
As we walked in, we were greeted to a lovely wooden room, filled with history based on whsikey and the process to the drink. We even got to taste Irish Coffee!
It was super strong, WOW! I could not down it at all, as I am not someone use to alcohol myself. However, the cream and taste was gorgeous.
As we sat down, listenening on couches, the guide greeted us with a door that would open to the main brewing machines...holy cow!
These things are MASSIVE! They towered over us as we walked into there, seeing the machines work, the smell and I will not lie, it was scary! They gave off a hum that buzzed in your brain if you were near one too long.
Apparently, this place is very flammable, so we had to be careful with anything that could set off a fire. With a bit of history on the maintenance or these machines, and how they treat everything, we eventually got onto one of the smallest kinds of bus I have ever seen!
It was a little cramped, but wow, it was fun. As we drove past the facility, we got to walk into a warehouse that apparently has thousands of kegs, filled with brew. Some dating many years that are kept for special occasions in Ireland. Once again, no phones but thats because the facility does not want anything that can be electronic inside the building. If there was a fire, it would be a not very safe place to be at all!
As the day grew darker, we all really wanted some food from another pub. And WOW it was incredible. I managed to get some pie that had so much flavour, with others getting steaks and so. This was when we took the chance to ask some questions to the reps, but also got to know them more and they were honest! I loved how communicative they were, truly people to enjoy seeing and chatting.
Thank you to the both of you!
However, the place became crowded over time, so we went to a much more quiter and traditional pub with drinks and two lovely gentlemen who were not part of the group.
And thus, we come to an end. We finished off our drinks, and went to the hotel for sleep.
Leaving and questions...
Our last but hopefully not final moments with the reps! We settled to get ready for the airport, and honestly I was exhausted. When we sat in the shuttle, one thing that will always stick with me was what Nichole said to me. She said I spoke well, and was great to talk with. As mentioned before in this thread, I have communication problems and learning difficulties, but this removed any paranoia I have had for the past 2 days, and made it all worth it. Arne, the second rep, was an incredible person to talk to, I loved rambling away with him and just the both of them are honest people.
There is nothing bad to say about them!
What kind of questions did we ask? Well I only asked about 2, but I remember their answers!
Accessories?
"Working on that! We hope to have a website out dedicated for this in the future"
HD800s Successor?
"The idea is there, but people have been asking for one with better and more bass. We will see!"
Alas, that is all from me, but I can safely say, this was an incredible time. The reps, the people who joined on, I am very thankful for this oppurtunity and hope others share their experiences!
