I went to visit Tokyo International audio show 2007, this past weekend.
One of my big concern was LINN KLIMAX DS, probably the most expensive Digital Audio Player in the world. Retail is 2940000 JPY (I was not misspelled .. it is USD$25,000).
I think DS is similar to Slim transport in its concept but the detail is quite different. It is so well built and close to famous CD12 about build quality. KLIMAX DS would be used in WiFi network and user needs external Hard Disks and Music Player software(picture on the right is hand held control device). DS does not have any HDs inside.
Sound quality is quite impressive, comparable to CD12 with same 16bit(CD for CD12, WAV for DS) comparison and DS surpass CD12 with 24bit WAV files.
The price tag is impractical for me but I felt a possibility in the future of digital players.
