Just been having a read through the Marshall amp site and came across this interesting little guide which I hope will be of use to some of you. It sure does explain Valves in an easy to understand way and even explains why you Americans insist on referring to Valves as "tubes" (trust you to be different!)

English is a Germanic language. These are generally said to have originated in the Elbe region of Germany.
