a good cd player

can anyone suggest a good cd player for me to interconnect to a headphone amp? none of this sacd/dvd/xpz/rmdvpeim digital audio dolby-dts 317.2 four-dimensional sound nonsense - just a good, simple cd player (preferrably with a remote and detailed display, i.e. track number, how many tracks total, current play time, maybe even the time of day?) with stereo rca output. maaaaaaaaaaybe coaxial or optical.

EDIT: oh yeah, not a CD-changer. just one CD at a time. call me old-fashioned.

So let me restate everything:

- above-average CD player
- holds ONE CD at a time
- preferrably simple i.e. small, compact, with a simple, small, compact remote

Now that I've read around this forum a little, I have another question:

My original plan was to get a good, simple CD player (see above) and go stereo out to a Gilmore Lite. Is this a good idea, or am I missing something? Noobish, yes.

I recently bought 2 Sherwood Newcastles from www.jandr.com. These have 20-bit Burr-Brown DAC's. Asking price was $249.00 but I dickered them down to $200.00 each plus $17.00 shipping. They have a number of the bells and whistles you would want and their headphone amp is fairly good.

I have the Sherwood CD-7080R, which sounds just like what you are looking for. I use mine in my bedroom system, and it sounds fine. I paid about $170 for it.
