Just got these yesterday, so i haven't had to much time to form impressions yet. The headphones are the newish ATH-EC7 and they are still burning in, but they seem very promising.

The flash player is an oem'd version of a korean player, the IOPS-F325. There are a few different companies that rebadge and sell this player, mine is from NHJ Tokyo. It's a very neat little player with some cool features and so far i like the sound an awful lot. The half-mirror oled display is pretty gimmicky, but it is also a very nice display and the ability to display animated pictures is pretty cool. It's a UMS device, so it requires no software or drivers. It comes with some sort of music-sync program that i haven't used yet and an image editor so you can create screen savers. The image editor is small, quick, and easy to use and if you don't want to use the screensaver feature, totally optional. The only thing i haven't figured out how to do yet is get the songs to play in album order, but i think that it's just a matter of organizing the files when it's acting as a removable drive.

oops, that's part of one of my longer anagrams.

original: Campus notebooks contain the best ruled foolscap suitable for writing.

anagrammed: I bet fools fruit can't poke a boa wrong so it bleeds plum or hunts cocaine.

It would be dangerous for me to live in Japan near all those toys. I'd just rent an apartment in Akihabara haha! Looks like you're having fun. The other good thing is those things are cheaper there than it is for us to import them no?

so how are the EC7's? were you able to compare them to the CM7's? how are they compared to the EW9's?

The EC7 were ~12,000 yen and flash player was about 16,000 yen. A little cheapher than going through audiocubes (not to mention the instant gratification), but i'm sure that you could get better deals in Tokyo if you knew where to look.

I really should ban myself from the electronics stores, but there are just so many fun things to see and lust after. Unfortunately music is very expensive here, CDs typically run 2,500-3,000 yen and DVDs run five to six thousand yen. Import CDs are actually cheaper here than domestics.

TenaciousO - I think that what you're looking at is the pointer and mouse buttons. If you go to this website you can find out probably anything you would want to know about this model Vaio. In my pictures you can (sort of) see the speaker right next to the power button. On the top-left side of the case, surrounded by a white ring, are the three mouse buttons and on the top-right is the pointer and scrolling buttons.

ayt999 - give me at least a couple days with the EC7 before i start to compare them to anything. I don't have any CM7, but i think i will probably pick up a pair of CM5 today since they're being cleared out at the store where i bought the EC7. I'll compare them to those and the EW9, eventually

your eyes do not decieve, the dAck! is my main source. Unfortunately with the MPX3 still out of town, it hasn't been getting as much use as it should, but that situation will be corrected sooner or later. For now i am getting to know my portable gear better and i've actually had some very pleasant surprises in the process, so no complaints from me

What kind of amp do you have cleverly disguised as a lunch box under that Hello Kitty mug? (Looks like an LED, Pot and with the 1/8">1/4th" adapter on it so I'm guessing it's an amp. Pimeta?)

Edit: Oh, profile says you have a Meta42.
