Well, my Zero Audiocraft CMOY with dual OPA627s installed is struggling to get me through this holiday break at my in-laws' place. The 627s are thirsty as hell, and don't sound good unless the 9V battery is fresh.

They have the unfortunate task of driving my HD650s.

It seems that after about a day with a 9V battery, while the Zero is still making noise, it's sounding unhappier and unhappier. Don't get me wrong, it's still perfectly listenable. It just doesn't have any guts. When I swap in a new 9V battery, things are "good" again, if it can possibly be called that (I'm about to pull the trigger on either a Meier Arietta or a Shanling to satisfy my semi-portable/solid state needs). I have some lithium 9Vs on the way, although I'm not sure how much that will avail me of. 9V batteries aren't free, and this displeases me greatly.

Thoughts?
