Hi All,

Quick question!  I have a multi-track recorder(Zoom R24) that I use to record into my DAW for my home studio.  It has a 96kHz 24bit delta-sigma DAC but I could not tell which brand.  I know that I don't need another DAC in the chain before my headphone amp (I recently start mixing using cans).  I also can tell that's the sound/tone/clarity/neutrality... from this DAC sounds vastly better than what I would get from my computer's Extreme X-Fi sound card.  What I  wonder is that how this DAC is compared to many DAC options(from low to high end) I've read about in this forum

Any info/advise will be greatly appreciated!

Thx,

Ben

PS:  Great forum by the way, I've reading everyday for the last 2 weeks :)

Well 2 options :

1) Every well made DACs tend to sound the same : transparent device . So from a profesional device like your Zoom R24 , i am confident in saying that it's rather well implented with nothing exotic .

2) Each DAC has "different sounding" , depending on implantation etc

After some comparisons (never tryed +500$ dac , i am leaning toward 1)   , but it's just me ^^ .

That assessment makes sense.  Thank you.
