Hey guys, I'm ready to upgrade my PC's sound. Currently, I have a Sennheiser PC360 7.1 channel gaming headset (getting hd598s soon) running off onboard audio, Realtek hd audio z87 chip. Anyway, I'm looking at getting the titanium x-fi hd, a 5.1 card. Will this work? will channels of my headset go unused or is that not how this whole channel thing works? If so, will I even notice much of a difference?

Thanks in advance!

The PC360 and HD598 are both 2-channel headphones and I believe both use the same 50-Ohm driver.
The sound cards (Titanium-HD) do all the headphone surround sound processing, then send the audio signal to the stereo headphones.
Where your ears think they are hearing 5.1 surround sound.

Thanks, I don't know why I was thinking my headset was 7.1, the 363d are the ones that are.

Nope, the Senn PC363D is stereo headphones that use the same 50-Ohm driver as the Senn HD518,HD558, HD598, PC360.
The PC363D just comes with a USB sound card, the USB sound card and it's software do all the headphone surround sound.
Asus sells a Xonar U3 USB sound card (5.1) like the one (7.1) the PC363D comes with, the Xonar U3 is $40.
