i've been using my new 6th gen 160 gb ipod for over a month now and lately when i have some quiet music such classic jazz(i've been busy so only have time to put some jazz in the ipod recently). i can hear some hard disk noise. i can notice some when some other music but with jazz, i don't need to "listen", i can just hear it. anybody here having the same problem? it's not there when using the headphone jack. what i'm doing now it's using my shure se210 instead of my super fi pro with my c&c box xo.

i had this issue with a 4g photo ipod a couple of years ago.
the culprit was a LOD where pin1 (ground channel) was not connected to the shielding of the LOD. when connected to the shielding, or not used in the LOD (instead using pin2 for ground), the hdd noises went away.

I have an iPod 160Go, C&C XO with Crystal Clear cable, a LOD/jack from HK, Custom IEM and no noise detected.

Try wiggling the dock connector a bit. It may not be seated correctly.

Do you mean if the ground is connected to pin2, there was HD noise, but not when connected to pin1?
Pin2 is the ground for the audio channels though..
cheers.

i finally gave it a try. seems like the other one has less harddisk noise but is still here. what can i do? i sent Ken from ALO a mail. he only ask me to send the cables to him. should i send them to him for this purpose?
one more note. i don't hear this harddisk noise with my 4th gen 60gb ipod.
