Hi, I'm basically looking for a compatible replacement tube for the 6J8P. I already attempted to use a 6sn7 and it didn't function.

Also, I'm wondering if there are any replacements for the 6P13P as this tube is very difficult to find.

Thanks.

(I realize this may be a double post, I posted in the AMP forum as well)

Are you kidding? The 6sn7 is a dual triode, the 6j8p is a single pentode. From the pins, it appears that you put a couple hundred volts across the heater of the 6sn7 which is almost surely destroyed.

I don't see any replacements, or any place to get either of these, or any datasheets in english for that matter.

What amp are these for anyway.

Hmm, think they'd be compatable with the 7027, the 6j8p that is. It seems as though they are very similar. Although once again I might not know what I'm talking about...I've only done solid state work, no tubes.

And no, the tubes were not destroyed, they are in fact in fine working order.

At the time I knew nothing about tubes, and was misinformed by the person who sold me my amp. It was supposed to come with different tubes.

ECH84 will not work, the data sheets are too far off. They aren't even the same type of tubes.

Like I said, I'll give it a go later tonight, but I don't think its lookin good.

Why would anyone make an amplifier for a tube type that barely exists? And this is a new amplifier...If someone could give me a shove in the right direction as to what to look for I could do the research.

The datasheets I found for the tubes were both in chinese, or what appeared to my uneducated eye to be chinese. Is the manufacturer of the amp in China? I would bet they used them because they worked okay in the application and were cheap and plentiful. Do you need different tubes for tube rolling, or because the originals are dead? What amp is it anyway?

They make it because the tube and amp are most likely Chinese, and the tube is probably cheap over there. These are things that need to be taken into consideration when purchasing an amp.

Yikes. I'd get a different amp first.

Anyway, searches on these keep bringing up the valve art brand name. Parts connexion carries some valve art stuff, so a call to them might turn something up. This place lists them too: http://www.phamitech.com/pd_nos.htm

i don't know anything about tubes, but perhaps the model numbers are different since the tube is from china?

from a google search, i found this:

seems to be a audio diy forum in china.

"China 6J8P = 6SJ7 in USA"

Why would I buy a new amp first?

This amp sounds friggin amazing... It powers speakers better than my solid state analog Onkyo which has 135 watts per channel.

There's no "problem" with the amp... I hate it when people make assumptions based on nothing.

Probably a Chinese amplifier, right? A quick search on the TDSL gives me this datasheet. There seems to be a whole ecosystem of Chinese tubes split off of the russian naming system- the J is a romanization of Ж, though you often see this converted as 'sh'. It's also clear that this is -not- the western 6J8/ECH84, as others have mentioned.

It looks like you have a few options for finding replacements:

1. Contact the original supplier of the amp.
2. Contact a Chinese tube distributor. Unfortunately, there don't seem to be a lot of these out there on the internet, maybe diyhifisupply.com might have a lead for you.
3. Contact a Russian dealer. Most of the web dealers have high minimum orders, but there are a number of eBay dealers who might be able to help. Searching for 6n1p on eBay will give you a few names, ask about a 6Ж8.
4. Figure out a western equivalent- you'll probably have to do some searching through a tube manual or the like, unless some guru here can name one of the top of their head. You might have to modify your amplifier.

As for why they chose this tube: it's rare here, but I bet in Guangzhou you can walk out to the market one morning and come back with a few gross of them. The Chinese electronics industry is close to pure capitalism- they'll treat parts as commodities and engineer around them, as opposed to speccing out a type and going looking for it. Unfortunately for repair purposes, commodity in China often isn't commodity here

He wasn't saying there was anything wrong with your amp, he was saying that its too much of a hassle to make the adapters. Maybe you could be a little thankful we were helping you? Geez, I hate it when people take us for granted.
