Heya,
They're actually virtually the same. The A900X is simply a touch bassier in mid-bass. Otherwise, really close. The big difference is more likely due to pad variation (they use different pads) than headphone difference.

Hey folks! Tried Googling as well as searching the forums here, but didn't yield any results...
I was wondering if anyone's auditioned or preferably own both the Audio-Technica ATH-A900 and the ATH-A900X, and can do a comparison for me between the two regarding:
-Treble performance
-Mid-range performance
-Bass performance
-Sound stage size
I recently got a pair of A900X and it's a bit on the bassy side for my taste, but I read that the A900's sound stage is compressed (and I really love A900X's sound stage)

What amplifier are you using to drive your headphones?
If your amplifier has a high impedance, it might cause the ATH-A900X to have a bloated (less detailed) bass.
