And I thought I was the only one using different sized tips for my BSB

Alright. After about 5-ish weeks, I finally received my order of the TX01. I went with brass (on antique silver) plate. Didn't really know what to expect, but I really wanted to compare it to the Singularity as I really do love that set for daily use with my only gripe on it being the tame treble. So, on my first listen with the TX01, I was taken aback by how punchy the bass was, followed by the gritty texture of it was, and right away I knew that it is a vastly different set from Singularity which is more on the bouncier or pillowy type of slam. Continuing on, I noticed that the TX01 has a wider soundstage than Singularity and separation on TX01 is more also more distinct. I do get more raspiness on voices especially on female vocals and I also really like the vocal inflections I get out of Singularity, but TX01 sounds more natural. Now when it comes to treble, this was something Musashi cautioned me with. He told me that using brass would give me a higher tone in the mids to low treble. I went for it and now my findings is that string or piano notes has a certain characteristic to it that I find energetic without going over the top. It extends just enough to give me enough emphasis that I was missing on the Singularity. I don't find it sibilant on normal listening levels. It's especially so good on acoustic music, jazz music with sultry female vocalist, or hip-hop. I think this was the element that makes it seem like the music isn't dry. You'll see on the graph below that it measures kind of weird but honestly, it sounds right in my ears, lmao.

I think this is more of an IEM I could describe as "what if IE900 and TX01 swapped each others' scoops in the mids and lower treble area." Kinda. The bass on IE900 has a similar texture or grit to it, TX01 just punches harder. They're similar in speed of attack. But that's as far as similarity goes. On the graph below, it almost seem like Singularity and TX01 should have a similar bass presentation but that couldn't be further from the truth - at least to my ears.

In my search for an IEM like Singularity but with a bit more treble presence, I discovered a new favorite IEM that sounds different in its own unique way. So, I'm happy either way.

Graph was generated using 711 coupler (using the same ear tips), for anyone who might be wondering. I'm no expert at this, I mainly use this tool to see channel imbalance for new IEMs I add to the collection.

Here you go, a more easily perceivable representation.

Paired the Effect Audio Ares S II and the improvement was immediately apparent! The stage and separation got enhanced, overall presentation became more holographic and more spacious, while the energy remained preserved and even got slightly enhanced. Magical!

Dunno if anyone's following but Musashi-san has some limited release options:

634ears FaceBook post about it

Most interesting one is:

▶ IN STOCK NOW | Ships within 1 week! 📦

MIROAK-II(OP) Honduran mahogany Limited
52,800JPY (Limited to 5 units)

Front : Stainless Steel
Body : ABS resin
Rear : Wood(Honduran mahogany)

This is an open-type MIROAK-II, not part of our regular product lineup. It is the same earphone that was showcased as a reference model at an event in Japan. The wood used is Honduran mahogany.

Unlike the regular MIROAK-II, this model features a stainless steel component attached to the wooden backplate, which increases the strength of the resin body.

While it carries the MIROAK-II model name, the sound is closer to the LOAK2-TX03. It may even resemble the old LOAK-T(OP). The sound is more delicate and refined compared to the MIROAK-II, with a gentle and soft tone. The use of Honduran mahogany for the backplate adds a warm and very pleasant quality to the sound.
I have produced only five limited units of this model. Please note that the wood cannot be customized.

yup, all these are really limited.

Btw @MakeItWain, how's your Miroak II Granadillo coming along?

Wonder if Musashi-san will order the black brass Loak2 nozzle that he was testing on.

I've had it for a bit but been bombarded. I'll share some pics later but I like it a lot. I didn't anticipate the upper mid extension nearly as much but it makes it a fun V shape.

That's great, I'm also really curious. With the stainless steel component, it seems to me that it's basically a Miroak II Japan Ltd. editon... but with a different type of wood and an open back.

Yeah the TX series has a much better closed for my tastes. That being said it isnt enough of a improvement to trade up my LOAK2(steel) open.

What is interesting is that dispite being open and clearly having quite the thin and flexible DD its able do you both snapping and sustained slam and still protray the correct microdetail that you would expect form a metal coated DD, Musashi really did something amazing here.
