Then I would expect to see a 4G iPod line-up of 20Gb, 40Gb, and 60Gb lauched around September/October time. just enough time to cash in on Christmas!!

I hope they'll use the mini wheel (which they most likely will) and add colored all(u)minium body. With 'better' colors like dark red, water-blue, black and white. I'm so gonna get a high capacity Pod and go lossless! I'm so tired of the 'squzingness' of the soundstage when using lossy

Sadly I'll be waiting for a 130Gb 1.8" drive with the FLACs I have at the moment!!

It probably won't be that bad.

I became interested in the iPod during the 2nd generation. Then 20GB was the largest size and that was about $800 Cdn. at the time. I bought my 3rd gen 30 GB when it was new and the price came down to $730, about 1/2 year after I bought mine you could get a 40GB which is now $700 Cdn. So each generation's biggest model keeps getting cheaper.

If they follow suit, the 60GB could possibly be $670 Cdn. or so.

Why would they use the mini wheel?

i guess the price has come down some because of increased competition in the dap sector. i still find it a bit overpriced for me. had the 15 gig been down to $250, id prolly have picked that up instead of my dell. None the less, the dell is an excellent player which i do not regret buying.

Actually it would be a nice thing to have as
a) iPod & iPodmini would have a more uniform appearance
b) the thing that I found so great about my gen1 (which I will probably never sell, it's a gem) is that you can work it without looking at it, something I never seem to manage with my gen3, & I do not like doing the hole-searching game on my iVolution. The clickwheel is the return of this ability on a technically advanced level.
c) the clickwheel saves space, so if Apple plans to enlarge the screen for whatever reason they can use the space that is now occupied by the buttons.
d) the touchbuttons can be a pain because they are so sensitive at times and then sometimes will not work at all. True tactile feedback is a good thing as well, psychologically.

I'm with you

What is more important than the increase in space though is that Apple just *has* to improve the battery to a more decent level.

battery is defently the #1 priority. They've gotten so much critic for the iPod's bad battery capacity so I would imagine they'll do everything to improve the battery life. We should at least have 8-10h with active use (light on, skipping song etc)

They should use a Lith-Poly battery instead of a Lith-Ion one to get more juice per charge too.

Yup, the battery life is my only qualm with my Ipod.

The battery life is what finally turned me away from the iPod and over to the Sony PCDP. Then I will have to live with the size while I wait for an iPod with an acceptable battery life, which imo is no less than 10hr under normal usage. If it comes with an FM radio that would be an extra plus.
