Hmm your 580s should not be more than a year old... isn't there a warranty for them?

HI JOE: I got the 580s on trade and they are old 580s and I feel good about getting both drivers replaced and new ear valor cushion's as to have like new 580s. JOE see my new post above about the new different driver baffles.
PS
JOE its a new tread on different baffles.

HI: I was listening to my 580s in my new Max Out MEAT42 and my mini disc then I plug in a much stronger source and by accident put new source at full volume and boom. Keep in mind that the left driver was an old driver probably on the way out ma-by.
Ps the 580s are fixed and being shipped out by ups at 5 pm tonight so I will get then on monday.

Well, in that case, didn't your ears sort of go boom too?

HI JOE. Not at all did my ears go boom. I use that as an expression. Acutely the left driver just went dead and no more sound came from it.

Well at least your right ear should have gone boom--unless you weren't wearing the phones.

It sounds like what I did with my 580s, but luckily they were okay. I was listening to them out of my home theater receiver. A couple hours later, I went to watch a movie and I was not getting any sound. I turn up the volume and it gets a little louder. I finally realized I still had the headphones plugged in and the speakers off.

2/3 the price of new phones. You can get them for about $130.
