I have a 50mm headphone shell and am looking for some drivers off aliexpress my budget is $60-$120. Hoping to make closed-back headphones with a wide sound stage with v-shaped signature crispy treble and warm bass, without having awful vocals.
Has anyone had a good experience picking up drivers or know a good seller. I'm comparing frequency response charts but I don't know how accurate they are
ones I'm currently looking at:

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away I was able to buy drivers straight from audio technica.

If memory serves, I got a pair of their high end closed back drivers for like 50-60 bucks. But I wanna say this was about 8 years ago, so things may have changed. Worth a shot though.

Old thread, but I'd be remiss if i didn't point out that these are 50mm:

I bought a pair thinking i would retrofit them into the Presonus HD-7 i picked up for <$10, which are identical to the Superlux K240-S look-alikes just in different colors, and are ABSOLUTELY FSCKING AWFUL no matter what anybody tells you about their preferred mod for them. And don't get me started on how many people who review their headphones here obviously have tin ears.

But the Peerless driver is much thicker than the Superlux driver, and effectively disables the cardan joint in the HD-7.

You can still buy driver like the AD2k and AD2kx if you want to. Audiotehnica has no problems selling em as long as you ask nicely and are not buying too many.

I got the peerless, I was very happy with them at first, especially now that I got rid of the hot treble. They are great for the price, but they lack low bass. Depending on your setup you could get bass that is very linear to literally be a head shaker. But on most songs the bass this irregular sound to it. When my x2's broke I put those in there and I did so many mod's it was crazy as to how many different types of sound you cold get with these.

Unfortunately I had to close all the vents on the front of my x2's with got rid of the harshness of the high's but I loss that bit of 3d holographic sound that they came with.
