So I was on my search for some xd-200's to get me through til I send my sr-80's off for repairs. 5 stores, but no luck. The one place that had the 400's was sold out, and I wasn't going to shell out 60$ for the 300's. I walk into Media Play, hoping to find some sony cans, when I find some KSC-75's. I've been looking for them for 8 months locally...NO ONE HAD THEM! Must have been a fresh shipment with the new "Spark Plugs." 19.99$, but I could use them right away, so I didn't worry about the 5$ i could have saved. So... I'm on the phone, and browse into target, just in case. They didn't have any xd's last week... but of course, 4 pairs of 200's on the top shelf. Grabbed them and ran (well, shuffled. I was on the phone and I had some free time...no need to rush) to the checkout. Later on, I had 8 hours at work to play with my new toys. The 200's, lacking in some areas (still pre-burn in), were nice. After reading Bangraman's review, i had some decently high hopes. For right out of the box, not bad at all. The mids seem a bit recessed, but maybe its just b/c i'm coming from grado land. Something just seems a bit off, but they were comfy, lightweight, and decent sounding. For 30$, not bad. Towards the end of my shift... i brought out the 75's (after passing along the 200's to a couple buddies, one liked them better than her PP2's i got her last year for a wedding gift). I was listening to Malone Lives by Quarashi (Track 4 off Jinx). Just something to groove to, but it hasn't sounded so good and since I first broke in my 80's. (This was coming straight out of my d-ne500).

After listening to about 4 albums, and about 10 other random tracks, I'm really wishing it was about 100 hours from now and both of these were burned in properly. The sony's are sounding a bit off, soundstage wise. I know its a good bit wider than the grado's, but it seems like its a bit hollow in the middle. Hopefully that'll clear up. I think i might throw these in with my old panasonic sl-ct580. Smallish soundstage coming off the source, but a killer sound. (I guess one of my tosh 3950's would work too).

Well, off to try the "Movie Mode" with some GT4 on PS2.

Its odd. I greatly disliked sony for the past few years... now I have cans, cd player, tape player, portable radio (backup to my RS branded Sangean DT-110), and a PS2... I guess its about time to sell my car and buy some Qualia's.... sigh.
