i got a discount on shure e2cs and I know they are not the best IEMs for the price, but is it worth shelling out 50 bucks extra for the er6is or the super fis?

I like the sound and its very clear but the sound isolation isn't great, at least for my ears and they can get uncomfortable

thoughts?

btw this is for my portable rig, which will hook up to my 20 gig creative zen touch, I use it on the city/school bus and listen to mostly indie rock/instrumental/experimental stuff

Well how important is isolation for you? I know with the Etymotics + foam plugs you get some of the best isolation possible for non-custom and great comfort. Certainly better isolation than the Super.fi's.

hmm I see the super fis are out of the 100 dollar range so lets forget those,

are the er6is worth paying 50 bucks MORE than the shure e2cs?

Surprised to hear anyone say the E2Cs sound isolation isn't great. Everyone's ears are different, so I guess it can be true. But it might just be the tips you are using? When I used them, the medium soft grey tips were the most comfortable and gave great isolation. The yellow foamies were the next best choice.

Anyhow, just wanted to suggest you consider the tips when making your decision.

The E2c isolate less. I slept with a set for 2 years, and I could hear my alarm or phone ring - the ER6i let me sleep through those things and I had to stop using them.

ER6i on eBay for $67 is the way to go if sound and isolation are important. I'd by JVC FX66 AirCushions or FX33 Marshmallows before buying E2c at the price you are looking.

I too have seen Super fi's for just about $100 (tad over) and they're pretty decent. I'm listening to Radiohead's In Rainbows through them at this very minute. Interestingly enough, the JVC FX66's which are suggested, don't match up to them at all, but do offer semi-decent isolation. Even more interesting, is that the stock "marshmallow" tips that come with them are smaller than the ones which come with the FX33's and to me, fit a hell of a lot better so, I've put them on the Super.fi's and WOW ! Very comfortable, and offer a LOT more isolation than the foamies ever did for me. I used to not like wearing the Supe.fi's because no matter what tip I tried, they always started to hurt a bit after a while, but so far, I'm not feeling any of the typical symptoms.

Good combo. Just sayin'....

I would probably take the super.fi 3 over the shure e2's. I like the sound of the UE's muh better. Cleaner base than the e2c's and much better highs.
