These aren't for me, but I still need help helping someone decide on a quality pair of IEMs.

This is what he's looking for:
"budget is maybe 50 and i listen to pretty much everything. i want it to be able to handle bass though."

JVC air cushions (fx66) are a stable model that, while requiring some good burn in time, are "bass" oriented and are $20-ish dollars. If you want something less warm and more impactual with bass, JBL220s are the same price range and offer a more 'dynamic' sound with less emphasis on midrange and more on treble energy.

MVPlaya's suggestion's also solid, better bass than JBLs albiet more expensive.
