So I have a $50 US or CDN limit on headphones as I don't wanna go crazy... just yet since I don't have a job yet (turned 15 in December) and once I get a job, it'll be different.

But for now, I want to spend around that amount on some nice sounding portables.

So I came to the conclusions of these 3 cans. Canadian pirces btw.

[$50] Sennheiser PX100 (vague memory of the sound, very nice low end)
[$40]AKG K 24 P (never heard before)
[$40]Philps HP460 (never heard before, want a lot since it hasn't been reviewed yet and has a detachable cable)
[$53]AKG K 26 P (waiting for review from one of the members of Audio T-board)

Any other recommendations? I don't care if it isolates noise or not, but it would be nice.
And PLEASE DON'T RECOMMEND ME EARBUDS, IEMS OR CLIP-ONS (KSC-35/75).

I prefer to have tight bass, average mids and I love highs. I just can't get enough of the details from hi-hats and symbols.

Thanks. I'll be searching more on Amazon and eBay.

Edit: Sony has been removed off the list.
Edit#2: JVC's been removed as eBay bidding is too much trouble.
Edit#3: Panasonics have been removed and replaced with AKG K26P

Sennheiser HD-201 might be worth a try. Can't expect miracles in your price range though.

cant think of anything that fits your criteria... maybe UR40. It has the lightest bass kick of any of the koss 60 ohm cans.

Lower end eggo, D22 / 33 perhaps?

I just bought a philips HP910 from doobooloo... I'll let you know how it stacks up. Someone PM'd me the other day wanting to sell me his. PM me and I'll be happy to forward you his contact info.

Right now, the JVC looks good as they're one of the most underrated companies with GREAT sound.
After that, the Philips seem awesome due to their detachable cord.
PX100's have a nice sound and know that for sure.
The Sony's have an awesome design.
The AKG's, I have no clue about, nor as to the Panasonic's.

Personally, I hate eggos. :/ I hate sony products, so the G74 will probably be out soon.

I can go and get a used JVC or the Panasonic on my list.

But the Philips really interest me.

Has anyone heard of the sound quality of PANASONIC RP HT850's?

i just got my pair of 201's yesterday and i really cant stand them. imo theyre absolutely horrible. it is really lacking in bass. i have my audio set to full blown bass and theres barely any bass emitted from the cans. the sound hoewver, is very clear though. i can now definitely tell the difference in quality between different song rips.

raul saavedra(?) did a review on here about the 201s and every single point he made was accurate. the female vocals are a pain to listen to; the "s" sounds hiss like crazy and make me cringe.

if anything, id give the 202's a shot. i havent personally tried them but im in your same spending range and thats what im probably getting next.

Yeah, I've heard of how awful the 201's are. Aren't the PX100's suggested better than the 201's? Thus, I don't even mention that.

I REALLY want the Philips HP460 as NO ONE has reviewed them yet an I might be the first one that's able to.

But problems occur as Amazon will only ship to the US. I hate you Amazon.ca

And eBay, I can understand the price but shipping to Canada is $25 USD. Too crazy.

If all else fails, I'll go for the Panasonic HT850's since I've heard some raving reviews about these or the PX100's.

The JVC ones are rare and are probably used, the ones I've found on eBay.

I'd go with the px100. They sound excellent for a portable plus they are the most respected cans on your list. By respected i mean they get the most love on this site.

I really love my PortaPros so far. Although it's a bit on the warm side, and well you said you like your highs. See if you could try them out somewhere

Porta Pros? Yeah... I've been meaning to try those.

It's really either the Philips or the PX100's I'm going for. Maybe both?

Does anyone know where to find PX100's cheap? I best I found was on eBay and it's not that cheap either.

PX100.

I use these for my Ipod (5G) and they sound great. Very balanced overall (smooth midrange, clear "non-boomy" lows, non-piercing highs).

Although I have read on here that they sound too "bassy", I find that the low may be a little under-stated for those who like extra bass. But this model was revised by Sennheiser some time ago so this may only apply to the older model.

I purchased mine in NYC, at J & R for $39.99.
