1. With the D22 foam mod*, surprisingly good sound for the money
2. With 102db/mw and 24 ohms impedance, very efficient... Works on anything.
3. It's comfy.
4. It's fully portable, you can either fold it or wear it around your neck when not in use
5. Being Japan-Only, it's a little exclusive

* D22 Foam Mod

The D22. Cheap, foldable and efficient. You'll need some packing foam (the foam used to pack hard disks is especially good) and a screwdriver.
The foam should be thick enough to nearly completely fill the earcup.

Pull the pads off. They should come off pretty easily. You'll notice that they are held in place by lips on the pads.

Locate the two screw holes, and unscrew. Once fully unscrewed, the 'half egg' earcups can be taken off the phone. Note how the earcup hooks at the bottom, and is held in place by the two screws.

Cut the packing foam into as close a shape as you can of the inside of the earcups. Remember that it should nearly fill the cups, so that it's compressed down when you reassemble the phone. Stuff it in.

Reassemble the phone.

Maybe... But I'm not sure it'll make as much of a difference. I'm thinking that the rubberised coating on the D66 is a functional component, for damping. The foam mod is mainly damping, but the additional isolation it gives is also VERY useful.
With the Foam Mod, the D22 knocks the PX200 into a cocked hat.

I tried stuffing cotton wool into my D66, however it seemed to de-bloat-ify the bass to a point where bass drums just made a click sound. I probably put too much cotton in (so the packing was too dense), however i'm not going to bother re-try it..

Cotton wool is the wrong approach. M. Scarpitti recommends it, what more do you need to put you off it???

But as I said, foaming the D66 is unlikely to have as dramatic a beneficial impact.

C'mon, dude. It works very well. Just don't over-do it. It minimises bleed-through of the sound and cleans up the mid/bass a little.

Foam is elastic in both compression and rebound, and provides the ideal anti-resonance environment when packed tightly due to it's characteristic of attempting to return back to it's original shape. It retains a more uniform chamber when compressed (and even when uncompressed, thinking about it) than a bunch of cotton balls banging around.

I use rolled cotton, cutting/tearing it up into a nice shape. I deadens the sound chamber a little, in the same way that fiberglass packing does in loudspeaker boxes. I doubt that foam is going to provide any better (or worse) effect. The point is to keep the sound from 'slapping' against the hard plastic surface and returning to your ear as a second sound. The cotton DOES, indeed, perform this feet well. Any soft, pliable material will do. Even cotton cloth. Even polyester cloth!

An update:

The only way in which it doesn't rock unfortunately is the portability. I can't stuff it in my pockets and the Eggo makes a less manageable bulge in my bag. I think it's the sole reason I gave up the D22 for the PX200. Ah well...

the decrease in bass after you stuff the earcups could be the stuffing is pressing against the backs of the drivers. i found with the d66 and sony v6 this pretty much kills the bass. i cut out a section of the foam for the drivers to float in.

I always felt the D22's got a bit ignored and didn't get the recognition they deserve, as the D66's seem to grab most the attention. Great little cans. I won't be modding mine anytime, soon, though.
