Well as the title says I am stuck between 485 or 497/350s (budget +/-$100)

I listen to mostly Trance/Electronic/Techno music and Instrumental/Soundtrack music from all around the world - and that means my music contains almost no VOCALS - it is plain music ONLY.

I like Techno trebles and mild bass. [size=xx-small] (I am not a bass head like the bass that comes out of R&B music.)[/size]

but mild to medium bass punch is important ofcourse!
I like to get detail etc delivered through Trance music.
Basically i enjoy listening to instrument notes, high-mid-low whatever!


I will be listening mostly through laptop and maybe through MP3 Player in the future - and that means i need phones that a portable player can support without any need for AMP or without draining the batteries too fast.
SO which ones are less powerhungry?

These will be my first ever GOOD headphones!

hd485 are excellent for those genres

None of the models you mentioned need an amp, although they do improve with one.

HD485 seems like it would suit you.

what maybe the major difference between the two

I find 485 a bit bulky/heavier though, ofcourse sound quality gets preference
