I need a 4700 uF Cap, 42volts plus, that has a dimension of about 22mm in diameter. Nichi golds would be great, but I really want them to be able to just go in the holes on my cd player's board (ie: no off board mounting if possible). Any ideas?

Not critical? If you have the wrong lead spacing, they won't simply drop in.

Go measure the distance between the leads or better yet between the holes on the PCB and report back.

22 mm caps usually have 10 mm. spacing and 2 mm snap-in pins. The smaller 18 mm cans have 7,5 mm. pins spacing. For snap-in types, check out something like the Panasonic TS-HA line. There's a 4700uF/50VDC one with a 22x45 mm case. The datasheet is here:
http://www.schuro.de/Daten/Panasonic/TS-HA.pdf

Elna and most other manufacturers have similar products but the panasonics are supposedly very good for the price.

You do know you can bend the leads on caps right? It is not a huge deal if the lead spacing is a couple mm off. You can just bend the leads a bit and they'll work fine.

About the caps. Listen to Nisbeth.

right, for pcb design.I usually use mil unit.a lot of big caps is 400 mil,the smaller is 300mil,200mil.
there is a easy way for components pins distance reference.it is a 'unit' of 100mil,approximation 2.54mm.such as the bread boards, all holes distance is 100mil each other.
