amazon lowered their price on the 40GB Karma to $443.99. The 20GB still lists at $399.99. My estimated shipping date is September 19, 2004 , which seems a bit optimistic considering the 20GB isn't out yet. I'm not holding my breath. This seems like a great price from a reputable dealer.

I'm also wondering about the weight and size difference between the 20G and 40G versions. Apple's Ipod sizes are noticeably different with the larger harddrive so I'm curious to know if the Karma's weight and size will be much more with their 40 G than the 20 G model.

You'll probably receive a notification of a "new shipping date" later on. That is what happened to the 20 GB model which was supposed to be available Sept. 3, but the shipping date was postponed to October 1. Good luck! Hehe.

It is not true. Both models feature 15 GB rated battery life.

I think the Karma 40 is slightly thicker and heavier, but not by much. The 20 GB docks can't be used for the 40 GB ones, or vice versa, though.

Unless you consider a slightly larger size an "upgrade", then no. Just the capacity.

I preordered the 20 GB version and did not receive any notification that the shipping date was postponed to October 1st. Can you confirm that you received an email from Amazon telling you this, or did you preorder directly from the Rio site?

Do you know if Amazon charges your credit card when the order is placed or shipped? If it is when shipped, I may place my order for the 40GB as well at that price just to 'get in line'. Considering the 20GB is not even out yet, I think it will be late October before it ships (just a guess).

The way most stores work (including Amazon), they won't charge you until the order has shipped. However, they will make sure you have the funds needed by putting a temporary hold, then releasing the money later on. At least, that's how I understand it. Hope it helped.

Link to a thread on another forum..

Maybe they didn't notify you, but if you check online, it'll show the updated shipping/delivery date.

I'm saving my money and just getting the Zen NX.

I think I'll be satisfied until there are 100 GB DAPs the size of a credit card with a color OLED screen, voice command, etc..

.. in the year 3000..
