Ok so we have like 1 record store in brisbane which actually orderes in new vinyl. I asked them if they can get in the 30th anniversary re-issue of Dark Side of the Moon, the 180gram pressing they said they don't know. What they could get on vinyl was the 2003 re-release by Capitol.

Is this the one, or was there more then one re-issue on vinyl?

I'm pretty sure the 30th Aniversary one is the EMI 180 gram remaster from Holland. I'm also pretty sure that the Capitol one is not the same thing. Anyhow, I have the EMI release and I like it a lot. Very clean-sounding and very dynamic.

I'm not entirely sure about this but from what I can make out it mayve been released as Capitol in some regions and EMI in others. This seems to be the case with the SACD as here stereophile seem to be reviewing the 30th aniversary SACD as being released on capitol (though the artwork looks different to my 30th anniversary LP which make me all the more confused). They do mention however it was remastered from the original tapes so it sounds like its the right thing. Anyone whos clearer on this it would help but it would seem odd for EMI and capitol to re-release the smae album in the same year given their the same label in reality these days aren't they?

Also I agree I love the sound of the re release. Better than the original I have but that is a slightly scratched up 2nd hand copy.

the SACD definitly has different artwork. But this is really confusing. I hope I didn't just drop a deposite on the wrong one.

Would 2 separate companies really make 2 separate re-releases in the same year of the same album and on the same format?

At this point, I think it would be most wise to sign up for the Steve Hoffman forums (www.stevehoffman.tv/forums) and ask them. Much more wise than we are, obviously
