Hello,
Has anyone compared the sound quality of the previous generation 30gb ipod to the current 80gb ipod? I am mainly interest in the audio output capabilities.
The longer battery life and hd capacity is also worth considering.
Thank you
Scott

Scott, there are so many threads here about this topic.

Keep in mind, everyone's ears & set up is different. Lossless or large music files will kill battery on both devices. From what zune80 users are stating, the new device has very good SQ better than the zune30. The whole zune80/ipod SQ feedback is a mixed bag. I think only users who have both can truly give you their honest feedback. I have a ipod30 and zune30, and I'm happier with the zune30 sound quality. Good luck.

I have both, sound to me is almost identical. The treble boost seems just a tab brighter to me on the new 6th gen. On flat, I cant tell a difference with the same samples using (E500s, ER-4Ps or RS-1s) between the two. I know folks claim the 6th gen is much better... but I sure dont hear it.

overall I like the slimness, front face design and GUI MUCH better on the 6th gen over the 5.5 30 gig.
