looking at headphones which are suitable for music and movies. i enjoy hip-hop, edm, rock, metal, folk, jazz, classical and shoegaze (my music tends to have a sort of lo-fi element to them with distortion so i would still like to hear every snap, crackle and pop in the record)
i enjoy a strong impactful bass and sparkly highs but not too harsh
i need them to be comfortable for decent amount of time for lengthy listening sessions and movies, so say comfortable for 2 hours. comfortableness is a necessary property.
is denon ahd-2000's the perfect choice for me?
any other options for me that maybe more suitable?
i am willing to get an amp if it fits in the budget constraints...
Thanks, head-fi you are always guiding me to the right decisions in headphones. putting my faith you guys again!

Beyerdynamic DT990 is another excellent headphone for your purposes if you don't need isolation (they are open back). You can get the DT990 Pro 250 Ohm for well under $200 and at that price they are a great deal in my opinion. That + an inexpensive amp like Fiio E11 will be a great setup for those who love exciting sound with emphasized bass and treble, but without excessive harshness or grain. DT990 are surprisingly smooth sounding headphones and even though they are quite bright, they are not as piercing as many others with a similar sound signature due to the smoothness. They are also very dynamic and detailed 'phones with a really good, spacious soundstage and excellent imaging.

I like my DT990s for action movies, but for other stuff besides action movies, their full bass & full treble overshadow the vocals (you can still hear the vocals).

To each their own. I found the midrange just a bit behind the bass and highs on the DT990 Pro, but it still sounded great to me, especially at low volumes.

To me, this is the Beyer DT-990 600 ohm (not the 80 or 250, only the 600) or the Ultrasone HFI-780.
