If only they could make a higher powered version geared for non-transportable use.

that amp has a real cult following. There are raves about it on the guitar and car audio forums I frequent... so its not just here.

Wish I were a speaker-phile, I'd have to check it out. Wonder if it could drive headphones with some sort of voltage stepdown?

Oooo... I can't wait to read that. Looks promising.

I heard of this a while back, possibly here

TNT Audio

It's tempting to build a system with my old CD player in the bedroom. If I wanted to build a budget speaker set-up, what speakers would folk recommend? It's going to need a power supply as well.

For people in the UK I've seen it for £24 delivered at

Media Zone

Mind you, I already have spare amp, speakers etc lying around at home, so I could build something. I'm just intruiged by the great reviews this unit is getting. I'm not supposed to be spending any money at the moment.

The K1000 requires a rather powerful amp, doesn't it? Why does the T-amp work at all? Will it work with the STAX 303?

Extra question: why would you pair an amp, with a stax energizer? Aren't they the same thing?

lots of people have powered the k-1k via the t-amp, its a nice cheap setup. there was actually a review of amps that were especically good/known for driving the k-1000 well which included the t-amp a while back. the t-map ws not on top, except that it costs nearly nothing.

some stax energiusers require speaker level inputs. some require line level inputs. kind of depends on the cans, and the energiser.

What is "Son of T-Amp"?

The T-Amp indeed drives the K1000 with no probs - from Tushi to T-Amp to K1000, quite a number of people said they could live with the combo hehe. But it still wasn't as dynamic as, say, the Dared Monoblocks I heard that day. That said, bang for the buck, the T-Amp is the Real Deal. In fact, I may just ditch this crappy Sony Reciever (i never listen to radio anyhow) and pick up a T-Amp to power my cheapo speakers once my preamp comes. Saving desk space = bonus!

I'm using a T-Amp with a linear power supply for my Polk RT35i's (89 dB/watt) and they get more than loud enough to use as computer speakers, and they're much better sounding than the cheapo reciever I was using before.

Also used one with my K-1000's and they're pretty damn good.

A bit too much brightness, but I prefer them to my recently obtained Sophia Electric Baby (with stock tubes) due to the much better resolution and imaging. Now that was a fairly disappointing upgrade.

/Time to go tube hunting.
//If anyone knows of a high resolution relatively inexpensive 5670/6N3/2C51, tell me.

I am using my Tamp with jbl n26 book shelves for My computer setup...

great sound and alot better then any computer marketed speaker setup I have heard.

if I want to get better it would be easy, a modded 404 sound card, upgrade the pot on the t amp, upgrade the speakers, upgrade the inter connects..

I have no plans of this cause My main setup is only a few feet away.

This gal has been waiting for the review ever since you brought it up a few weeks ago.

After my T-amp died on me, I've been wondering if I should invest in another one. This one has piqued my interest.
