you know what, thats exactly what i did and something happened.

I went to Futureshop to get an exchange, and when I got there I had those guys bring me a replacement unit and i inspected it. We brought the nano to the exchange counter and the "customer service manager" was attending me. I told her that there's scratches on it and she said they dont do exchange for scratches, I told her it was not even opened yet! and she said it's just the scratches on the box...I told her it was not and she gave me the "whatever" face and did the exchange for me. However, somehow there was a scratch at the bottom side of the replacement nano and I didnt notice it when I was inspecting it. I said I need to get another unit coz there was also a scratch on this one and she looked even more pissed. She called up a guy and had him bring two over. While I was inspecting it she was probably whispering to that guy that I was being lame or something coz it seems to her that those scratches were scratches from the box.

So she did the exchange and I went back to the back of the store for another 2gb....i inspected the unit this time and it was perfect...took it and i got to the same counter with that lady there. She was literally giving me that "What?" face when we were approaching her. The guy told her that im getting a 2gb and she just went silent, but it was apparent that she didnt feel happy about it at all. I was obviously pissed since I had to go through all those attitude she showed me when I was making a 500bucks purchase. And that lady was a "customer service manager" geez....I think I should report her to the human resource department.

Maybe you should post the future shop location so people can avoid it when they need service

so I guess she'd be real happy if she spent her hard earned money on a nano that was pre-scratched before even opening the box. I'm sorry you didn't buy it refurbished, you deserve an unblemished new product. Let's hope it comes around circle for her and she ends up getting the same What face from someone else when she tries to exchange something that isn't up to spec and they give her a dirty look. Damn, what a bitch!

the build quality of these nanos are seriously poor. the click wheel is not even at all..there are actually gaps under the wheel...these stuff arent really built as good as the minis :mad

Everyone is different. A small scratch would not bother me. On the other hand, poor quality does. I am coming to the conclusion that the scratches are a growing sign of poor quality.

I have a drawfull of old electronics. I have cd players and walkman. They are all more than ten years old and they all work just fine. I don't buy, use or treat my stuff like junk!

I have owned all but the third generation iPod. The First Generation iPod was not the greatest, but it was a new product (It was light years ahead of the Nomad Jukebox that it replaced). The Second and Fourth Generation were each of superior build quality. One a little better than the one before.

I cannot say the build quality of the Fifth Generation iPod is superior to the Fourth. In an attempt to make each generation lighter and smaller, the newest iPods have gone too far. The funny thing is that the lighter they make the iPod, the heavier the protection I feel I must place on the iPod.

That DMF giving you those What looks. I bet you she's waiting to buy a Zune.
