No. Many people on these boards hate the HD280s. Just ask Kramer. I don't understand what these 2 cans have to do with each other, the only thing they have in common is the brand, and the fact that they produce noise

I recommend the 280 only to people who need maximum isolation in a closed headphone and who won't use IEMs for some reason. But I can recommend the HD595 to almost anybody, at least anybody who doesn't already have a higher-end rig and doesn't require isolation.

The 280 is a decent, accurate-enough headphone, but its sound is really pretty blah and uninspiring. It improves a little with a good amp, but it never gets to where I truly *enjoy* it particularly much. And it's uncomfortable: welcome to Head-Vise, sorry about your skull. There are also numerous reports of the headband cracking, though it hasn't happened to me. Overall, I don't see any reason to choose the HD280 unless you need its isolation, which is the best of any headphone I've heard.

The HD595 is very good-sounding, lots of fun to listen to, easy to drive (the modern 60-ohm version, at least), and quite comfortable. IMO it is a real "what's not to like?" headphone, a very fine all-'rounder. It's quite leaky and provides no isolation, so consider it only if those aren't issues in your intended application.

As for those NewEgg reviews, consider the headphone experience level over there against the headphone experience level over here. At Head-Fi you've got people who own a very wide range of equipment and are comparing the HD280 to a very wide range of alternatives. I'm not trying to be a snob here, I'm just saying that we specialize in headphones and they don't. Would you consider a handful of Head-Fi reviews of PC motherboards more credible than the collective motherboard wisdom of NewEgg?

Though I did like the NewEgg review titled "SOUNDS BETTER LOUD!" Yes, turning up the volume will cover many an audio deficiency. Your ears won't thank you for it when you're older, though. The 595 sounds pretty sweet at lower levels, and IMO still sounds better than the 280 when/if turned up loud.

this may sound lame but bigger numbers == better models usually. If those 2 are of exactly the same quality i will choose the 595 for sure.

Pretty good unless they explode and burst in flames

Pros: Comfortable, Great sound quality, You'll hear new things in music, It blocks out ambient noises oh yeah and they're black

Cons: They exploded and burst in flames when i played some loud music, i got 2nd degree burns and permanent hearing loss on my left ear

Other Thoughts: my right ear is still good so it's ok
