I listened to my system and didn't hear any problems. Now what?
Instead of randomly tweaking and hoping to hear differences. Maybe I can upgrade something else. Since I stare at my display 14 hours a day it might be a good idea to upgrade the display. I'm using the cheapest LCD display I could find 2 and half years ago, I'm skeptic. I have Acer AL1914, it works, I can read text.

I had planned to upgrade my Nordost Valkyrja internal wiring into Valhalla, but since Odin was released it doesn't seem like a good idea anymore. If I get Odin internal wiring, I might as well upgrade all the external Valhalla cables into Odin at the same time. It's going to end up costing $$$$$$ and there will be problems with fasting and coin hunting (police) since I don't have any money.

So I was looking into my bank account and I have almost enough for a 30 inch 2560x1600 display. Prices don't seem to be dropping much until after a year so now is the best time to buy?

I don't know what else to buy. I have a backup audio system ready so when my main system blows up I'm up and running. So I don't need any backup money and can spend it fast. I have some beans stashed inside the closet as well, so when my backup system blows up I can use the food money to repair it.

So what about that Samsung 305T 30inch 2560x1600?

UPDATE: I bought HP LP3065 30inch 2560x1600.

Patrick, have you thought about saving/investing some of your money?

I don't save/invest because I'm scared my other personality will take the money and spend it on useless things.

If you keep tweaking your system with high end Nordost cables, it will never end, Nordost will always release a better cable every 4-5 years so you'll not gonna have the best in your system and it will be outdated. If you're happy with the sound signature of your setup, keep it like that, buy more CDs, eat well, try to go out a bit more, try new things. In the end, like in 4-5 years, now you'll be able to buy the Odin cables since it will not be the top of the line and it will be an upgrade for you.

Just my 2 cents.

My school had good advice for us when we were buying our technology over the summer: buy the biggest, nicest display that you can afford. You stare at the thing for hours: why not have a good one? I can promise you that a good display is worth your time. I happen to have one of the last-generation Dells, a 17", and its color and even lighting look superb. My only beef with it is that it has some backlight leakage issues, but then again, you're probably looking at a different brand.

My recommendation always goes to NEC, they build absolutely the best LCD displays I've ever seen. The Best Buy in my area actually stopped carrying them for some reason, probably because they absolutely demolished all of the other monitors in the displays, even the more expensive ones.

But yeah, go for a 19" monitor (or larger if possible) with 1280x1024 or higher and I'm sure you'll be happy. A 30" screen seems a little excessive. My dad has a 20" display and it's plenty big, in fact, it's almost too big (too much eye movement required to get from one end of the screen to another compared to my 17").

No I think if you are going to use this to replace your computer monitor its over kill. I agree with 24", and you'll still be able to sit closer to it. Samsung is a good brand, I have a 22" myself and the display is fast. Try the model 245BW, 1920x1200. It'll probably be 3-4 times less money than the 30 incher as well.

If you pay that price for the 30", get the 42" Westinghouse that does 1920x1200. That's my next computer related purchase.

Anything not related with nordost cabling would be good, I say

.

30" for going on forums is total overkill, however. If you have a HDDVD/bluray player and like to watch movies or play pc games, then it is another matter.

patrick what graphics card do yo have. If you are going to play quake at native you better have sli or something because that is a lot of pixels to render. For what you spending on the 30 inch I would get a 22 or 24 inch and get a graphics upgrade.

@laxx: using a 42inch for a computer display is going to be ugly because the dot pich it just so huge. It would be good if you are sitting far away...
