I can get a new pair of SR325's (leftovers of the original, silver 325's) for $230, since the place I'm looking at is trying to move our their remaining stock before they order the gold 325i's.

Is this a good deal? I don't really want to spend $295 on the 325i's, and honestly don't even need another pair of headphones, but these looked pretty interesting, and I haven't heard the 325i's to make a sonic comparison...

considering that you can get them used for $150.00 - $175.00 I would say - NO - you ended up paying a tad too much.

used MS2s were going for $200.00 and those are much nicer sounding.

Where have you seen 325's for $150-175? I've seen used 225's for around the $150 mark, but not 325's. Also, these would be brand new in the box 325's, not demo's or anything.

If you can point me in the direction of used 325's for the prices you mentioned, that would be great-- saves me the trouble of burning them in!

I would say $230 isn't good. Considering there have been numerous brand new 325i's selling for $250 on the F/S forum, buying the silver 325 isn't a good idea. The 325i is a huge improvement. Even if you had to pay full retail $295, it would be worth it. Whether you liked the 325 or not, the resale value would be low, and eventually curiosity would win out, and you'd feel the urge to go for the 325i.

For a brand new SR325 it's a pretty good price, except that there's no resale value for them on head-fi. If it's a local place though, did you listen to them? They're obnoxiously bright, unless you have dark equipment you're probably better off with the 225.

No resale value? How can you say that? Or do you just mean that the price for silver 325's would be so low compared to used 325i's, that I'd be taking a heckuva hit if I sold them?

numerous 325i's in the F/S forum? really? I hadn't noticed but maybe one... most people seem to hold on to them.

there was immediately after the group buy, i had two there myself. Haven't checked the F/S forum in a few weeks, so maybe it has slowed, but they will surface. Even a used 325i at $250 would be a better deal than a brand-new 325 at $230.

I don't know - the 325s were highly regarded enough to make me wonder why bashing them now, after the 325is hit the market.

I am not discussing which sounds better, but just trying to stress that after the 325is were released the 325s still sound exactly the same as they always did

. Good or bad - it depends on each's ears.

I myself love them for recordings which miss highs, and there are many recordings like this.

I tried them out back in December and didn't find them as bright as many people said... I quite liked their sound, but the SR60's seemed to provide more bang per dollar than the 325's did.

hmmmm, maybe I shoudl just put out an IC for some used SR325's?

The SR60 is almost as bright as the SR325, and certainly harsher. If you like the sound, it seems like a good deal to me, but considering the hype around the 325i and the fact that few people around here like the 325s, its likely if you ever wanted to sell them, you would take a hit if you could sell them at all.

I just wish people wouldn't go back to their FS posts and delete out the price-- it makes it very hard to figure out what a particular item sells for if it just says "SOLD!"

grrrrrr...

Using that logic, if there's someone out there looking to sell their silver 325's, I should be able to get a good price on them, right?
