6/27 update; see impressions thread here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/772826/6-27-15-denver-co-meet-impressions

By behind-the-scenes popular interest, the Colorado summer meets return to the Mile High City for 2015! Would like to encourage all local Head-Fiers to attend, plus those afar that would like to!

If you can attend, just leave a post in this thread to sign up, and list any gear that you can bring! The more gear the better! Please also mention how many +1s if applicable (whether significant others or friends), as I'd like to get an accurate headcount, thanks!

Also please join this group I created for the local CO Head-Fiers, will make it easier to contact everyone for future meets! http://www.head-fi.org/groups/show/39/colorado-head-fiers-group

Location: Denver Public Library, Sam Gary Branch
- Library Web site: https://www.denverlibrary.org/sam-gary-branch-library
- Address: 2961 Roslyn St, Denver 80238
- Note: This location is just down the street from the Doubletree hotel that was used for a few CO meets in the past. The meeting room is also smack in front of the entrance doors, can't miss it!
- The library has free wi-fi too, and it's fast—I clocked it at over 10 Mbps!

Date: Saturday, June 27, 2015
Time: 10 AM - 4:30 PM (room must be cleared by 4:45 PM)
Cost (optional): $2-$5 cash per attending Head-Fier is requested to help cover the cost of the room (which is $70) but is not required to attend; will stop taking cash at the meet once I get $70 to prevent an overage

Power: I will have some power strips and extension cords on hand to help with distribution around the room, but please bring enough power equipment for your own system.

Lunch/Food: No food inside the meeting room, please (water bottles or similar are ok though—and please keep all liquids sufficiently far from all equipment, including your own!). The library does have a small foyer outside the meeting room that has some tables which can be used for eating. Restaurants within walking distance of the library (less than a 5-minute walk) include: Chipotle, Noodles & Company, Etai's, and an Anthony's Pizza & Pasta, plus a Cold Stone which will be nice in June. There's also a Smashburger, Panera, and Subway also very close by (technically walking distance but I'd imagine most people would drive).

Misc: It can be surprisingly helpful at meets to have a camera (or camera-equipped device) on hand, as you never know when you might want to take a photo of something. Plus it always helps when other Head-Fiers have photos to post in the impressions thread that will be created after the meet.

I'll be there. The last meet I went to was in Dayton in 2010, so I think it's about time for another one. :)
The list below is assuming my gear remains the same between then and now

List updated to post #4.

-Source: Can't bring my iMac, Maybe someone can lend a laptop they're not using that's loaded with music.

Definitely bringing my Windows 7 laptop, which I suppose could be connected to your Luxman DA-06 instead of my planned cheap Schiit DAC. Or you could use the digital outputs on my DVD player, I'll bring both an optical and coaxial cable in that case.

If anyone has any closed headphones they would not mind bringing to the meet that would be nice. I am desperately searching for a closed pair of phones to connect to my midi for composing music. I have a deadline for a composition in August and I still have not bought anything. I was going to get the Audeze EL-8 closed but reading the reviews in the forum is making me wonder if it is a real gamble.

Thanks,
Derrick

Free Parking?

Yup parking is free, wouldn't have booked it if it wasn't.

I just ordered an Audio-Technica MSR7 today, which is also closed. It's just a bit bigger than a supra-aural design though, you didn't say if you want circumaural (goes around the ears) or supra-aural (rests on the ears), along with what your budget is. There are lots of closed headphones available in both form factors.

Someone I know will likely bring a pair of Oppo PM3, which is closed.
you can demo Oppo PM phones at ListenUp audio in Boulder, if you don't want to wait till the meet.

I'd really like to check out the PM3. Didn't know ListenUp has Oppo headphones, will have to stop by there!

Checking out headphones would be a lot easier if I could drive a car. My eyes have been going down hill and it is not safe to be on the road any longer. Otherwise I would have hit every store in Colorado. I am having a friend also in the forum drive us down to Denver.

As far as what my preferences are, something that covers the whole ear and isolates the outside sound fairly well. As far as price, I was considering the Audeze XC for a while if let's you know my limit. I would have bought them if it wasn't for the weight. When I am bouncing around the piano and the organ I lean over a lot and the headphones would come crashing down. That would be a bummer.

The reason for closed is that when I am composing I like to block out the rest of the world so I can concentrate on certain instruments I am writing at the time.

Cheers,
Derrick

As of now, I am planning on attending. Can't foresee anything that would prevent me from doing so, but you never know...

Don't have anything crazy to bring along. That, and I find my tastes often don't match up with most others.

For DACs, will have an Audial Model S and might have a Theta Gen Va.

For amps, Valhalla 2 w/ upgraded tubes, Leckerton UHA-6S MkII w/ Sparkos discrete opamps, maybe a SinglePower MPX3 (I'm kinda still looking for someone that can inspect it for safety, age, and possible performance upgrades...).

For headphones, HD650 and a self-modded PM-2 that I suspect most will find too smooth and laid-back. Maybe some other cans if anything ends up at my doorstep between now and then.

I don't have a wide variety of music, so I'd recommend bringing along flash drives and/or MicroSD cards with some music you're familiar with. I can also secure some music by request before the meet to have it readily available.

Well there should be a decent variety of closed headphones at the meet, I think. I'm also in the process of trying to acquire others, and will announce them later if I can procure them.

Bolder Cables in Littleton used to repair Singlepower amps back in the day (quite a few Head-Fiers reported using them quite successfully), but it looks like that company is defunct when I google'd it just now. You might still be able to contact the owner to see if he would look at your amp.
