Hi,
I'm looking for closed headphones at around $200, mostly for rock (progressive / symphonic / classic), jazz and metal.
I've had both the Shure SRH440 and SRH840. Both of them were very much to my taste, but they both broke :frowning2:
I'm looking for something with better build quality and hopefully similar sound signature:
mostly balanced, great mids, good soundstage, not tiring to listen to.
I would use these headphones in an office environment, so it shouldn't be too flashy and it shouldn't leak noise.

Thanks!

A bit over budget but Meze 99 Classics would be a good choice the Neo’s are bit cheaper but haven’t heard them myself so don’t know how they differ from the Classics.

From what I read, they definitely seem like a good option.
I'll try to find a place to test them, but they are not very common where I live.
Are there any other options worth considering, with similar durability and sound signature?

My favorites for full-sized closed back headphones near that price are my Audioquest NightOwl (were $700, now $299 at headphones.com). If you can get to that price point. I think you may want to at least give them a listen.

Would you consider in-ear monitors? My best recommendation for $199 are the periodic audio beryllium (Be) - on www.periodicaudio.com choose the dropdown near the price and, like I did last month, select “blemished” for $199. I am still looking for the reason they call these “blemished.” They sound just like the $300 new pair I got two months ago. Please note that their sound changes considerably after about 200 hours of “training” or “warm up” or “run in”. Check out other head-fi reviews and some mention 200 or 250 hours of “run-in” before critical listening. The initial forward/harsh upper mids and treble smooth out very nicely. The bass is beautiful. I bought the first pair from Amazon. After 2 weeks of “training” I liked them so much I bought the “blemished” pair as a spare so I would never “Be” without. I am posting a comprehensive review on Amazon in a day or so, and will post one here when I am allowed.

Periodicaudio.com currently has a 25% off sale through Father’s Day, so that makes the total around $150 for blemished or $225 for new.

Happy hunting! Please let me know if this helped.
