Hi everyone! This is my 1st post..

I'd like to start off by commending you for your knowledge of headphones..

I am looking for a set of in ear headphones to replace my e3c's. I thought the e3c's were nice sounding headphones, but I found them a little boring dynamically (Esp. lower ends).

I was pretty sure I wanted the UE5Pro.. but after reading all of your informative posts.. I'm totally confused!

I'm going to be driving these headphones with a Creative Zen Vision M for 90% of my listening. I don't want to have to drive the headphones with an amp to make them sound good, if this matters.

Musically, I like eveything from modern rock to trance/progressive to buena vista social club..

I'm a very auditory person and am pretty sensitive to muddy sounding speakers etc.

I'd like to spend ~$200 (or less)

but will go up to $300 if needed.

Any help from the resident headphone gurus would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

mc

Shooting from the hip, if you're willing to increase your budget go UM2. There are many people here who swear by them. Well, that is, until their E500's arrive next week.

I went from the E3 to the UM2 and found a much fuller, richer sound. Build quality is excellent and the cables are by far the best of any IEM I've owned. Couldn't be happier!

I've gone from E4 to UM2 and still am pretty happy. But I'm betting I'll be even happier next week when I get the E500's.

just got my UM2 today and...i have to admit i'm a little disappointed. i'm sure i need more time with it and need a better source (straight out of my macbook since my ipod's with vinnie), but first impressions aren't too good.

coming from the er6i (which i like) and previously the er4p/s, the UM2 sounds way too bloated in the mid-bass and almost congested to a fault. by contrast my er6i has a bigger soundstage, or that's how it appears to me.

i'll definitely listen more the next few days and get a better sense of the sound...i'm sure it's just a matter of getting adjusted to a new sound...

but to the OP - you'll have to try out some IEMs to see for yourself whether you'll like them or not.
