I'm looking to take advantage of the E-mu's 8channels of adat input capability. I assume I need some sort of external i/o box with an ADC and adat connectivity...anyone know of such a thing?

If you need that many inputs, why'd you get 1212m to begin with?

sound quality...and because it comes so highly reccomended. I planned on using an external I/O box, and the 1212m has that adat compatability, so I figured I go with that. But heck, for about $100 more than 1212m + I/o box I can get the motu 828 mk II....sooo....

That's why I started with 1820m to begin with

But the motu does have other nice features.

I'd agree that if you 'knew' or even suspected that you'd need the I/O then the 1820/M is really what you should have done. The non-M version is only ~$200 more than the 1212.

The cheapest thing to get would be the Behringer - 8 ins and 8 outs, link here:

won't be anywhere near as good as the 1820M I'd guess, but reports are that it's really not bad.
