Hi all, I received quite a bit of birthday/christmas money, and am looking to spend it on some shiny new equipment! Currently i own Grado SR-60s, which i use un-amped, connected to my computer's rubbish soundcard output. I have had these for quite a few months now and like them a lot, but find the soundstage a bit lacking..
I was looking at buying an emu 0404 usb, because i mainly listen to music through my computer, and i figured i'd need a DAC because my soundcard is really terrible. i was also looking at the total bithead but don't really need portability.
as for the headphones, i was thinking the ath ad2000.
i listen to pretty much every genre of music i can incl. classical, electronica, rock, latin, jazz, even some folk..
so i guess i'm looking for a jack of all trades in headphones, with a big soundstage and an exhilarating listen. analytic detail is probably less important than this.
tl;dr: DAC, amp and headphones for ~$1000 total, suggestions gladly appreciated.
