MDR-SA3000. Same driver as MDR-SA5000 but with cheaper components.

What type of music do you listen to?

Do you want punchy or deep extended bass? Instrumental seperation? Do you want them open or closed? Do you want a large soundstage? Portable/full-sized?

Seek out a used HD600/HD650. Otherwise the Denon D2000 is good, but I prefer my HD650. Also, do you plan on using an amplifier? An amplifier will bring out what these kind of headphones are capable of.

if you are getting an amp in the future, get the hd600s. it's gonna be ok now and will improve with the amp later. But, seeing that you are selling your 595s, I have to ask what you didn't like about them. Recommending another senn might not be a good thing if you don't like a laid back sound signature.

It depends on so much. If you get the chance, go listen to as many as possible to get a feel for what sound you are after. They all have different sound signatures, no brand is worse than other (ok, some are), just different.

As others have said, it all depends on the sound you want.

That said, it has always been my impression that Grados have been designed for the sole purpose of listening to music and other possible types of usage such as movies wasn't considered.
