Hello Everyone,

I'm looking for a good pair of earphones in the $100-160 price range. My biggest issue is that I need bass but I want to sacrifice as little sound quality as possible.

So far I've looked into the Monster Turbines, UE Super Fi5 EB's, and Shure SE210.

Each has their own Up's and Down's. Monsters sound like they might sacrifice too much sound. UE's are huge and look like it might come alive on me. Shure gives me the impression that it might not be the place to go if I needed some bass.

I would love some more options or any opinions on any of the ones that I previously mentioned.

Any help is appreciated and Thank You ahead of time!

What kind of music your listening too will also be important. From what i hear, (from people, not my own ears yet) is that the turbines sound great for hip hop and tracks with lots of drums. They also need a lot of time to "burn in"

Phonaks sound like a good choice for you.

I guess you could say that most of my music is Hip-Hop and Rock based. I'm not trying to flood my ears with bass since I listen to a lot of softer music too. So anything in the middle is welcomed.

Phonaks are looking intriguing. If there aren't much more options than I'll purchase them.

Any opinions on the Ultimate Ears 5EB? or the Shure's SE210? I'm not sure if I've ruled them out yet.

Thanks for all the opinions so far, you guys are quick!

The shures are probably out. They don't have much bass.

Lots of people complain about the super.fi 5.EB's bass. Apparently its too muddy and overpowered. Though I did read a couple people that liked it.

You mean these? Since they didn't receive editor's choice, I'd assume not as good.

shure SE210's are overpriced crapwads, seriously, NOT IMPRESSIVE AT ALL. As far as the phonak, left earbud deal, there have been several cases of the left earpiece suddenly failing. My previous phonaks were one of them. However, Phonak has an excellent 2 year warranty, and they should fix any problems that would arise in that time-frame. UE superfi 5's, in comparison only have a 1 year warranty.
