For the 300, Apocalypso, Gladiator, Braveheart, etc. fans, you've got another one coming.

Release is a year away.

EDIT: Since it seems related, they just posted an R-rated Beowulf trailer.

Cool! I wonder how the sound track will be!

I normally listen to a movie like that twice before I watch it once!

....good exercise for the sub!

It looks a LOT like Apocalypto-- good thing though, because I thought that the visuals were simply mesmerizing.

Hmm looks interesting. I haven't seen a movie with this concept before.

Well then; allow me to be the first!

Some of the technology portrayed seems to be pretty advanced for 12,000 years ago! I'd suggest that 8,000 years ago seems more appropriate at that.

Of course I thought that "Jurassic Park" was a bit off too. But then again after thinking about it a moment, "Cretaceous Park" sounds more like it could be a Gay hangout.

....just kidding!

It's difficult to know exactly where 10,000 B.C. is headed, but La Guerre du Feu/Quest for Fire is worth checking out. It's been called the pasts 2001. Maaaayybe The Clan of the Cave Bear too, but that has to be suggested with reservations. Although quite different in local and time (well all these are), I want to mention Atanarjuat/Fast Runner as great legend too.

There's also "10 Million BC"

Plot wise, I have a feeling it's going to be closer to 10 Million BC.....except instead of a half naked vixen rolling around with dinosaurs, it's going to be a boy rolling around with tigers.

Guess they also were going to try to be somewhat "historical" by not placing man with dinosaurs.

This looks like my kind of movie. As I said as I began to watch "Stargate" for the first time, "Looks like someone has been reading the same books I have." I wonder if this movie keys into the 10,500 BC date which some authors [Hancock, Bauval, Gilbert, et al] get so much mileage out of. The trailer does not indicate so, but am wondering too, if the movie's plot centers around "The Event" as detailed in the book "Cosmic Cycles of Catastrophe" which is a brilliant scientific mystery story. For those of you who do not know, there is evidence for a fairly advanced, maritime, world-wide civilization at about that time in the past...

Nice to hear that the theory of Atlantis is still around......

Sounds in keeping with Chariots of the Gods . A book that provides much humor for archaeologists.

But serious science does look at reasons for climatic shifts: one of the main reasons for a species extinction....as well as competition with other species.
