Hello everyone,

Forgive me if I missed this, if its posted in here.

I am getting diy tube headphone/preamp kit off Amazon to mess around with. I want to replace the 3.5mm headphone jack with a 1/4". Has to be right angle and I am guessing 3 conductor open?

Any suggestions?

Thanks. I already changed out the rca input for a dual rca. So I can connect my dac and my phono at the same time. Also tried a couple different ac adapters because it doesn't come with one. Next is opamps and tubes.

1/4" jack will be physically too large as there are parts mounted right next to the current jack. I would just use an adapter as Joe suggested.
^ this ...

You could air-wire a panel-mount 1/4" jack to the existing pads, once you remove the smaller jack from the PCB. All that effort is not worth it for that little amp, though.

If you want the best performance, try a linear-regulated 12VDC adapter from Jameco.com.

I settled on this ac adapter

No tube hum, no background noise on any of my hp yet.

Verdict isn't out yet but I think i prefer this to the JDS Labs Atom. I'm waiting another week of use and then swap the atom back in to compare.

Edit: Almost forgot to mention, little amp seems to be class A. Kill-A-Watt meter shows 5.5W no mater the volume position.
