Like the problem states, I'm getting both L and R channels through my left speaker (Altec 2.1 setup). My amp is an HS Classic, and the same problem also occurs when I plug my 580s into it. Also, switching the plugs around into the card still showed both L/R in the left speaker. This is what I'm doing for cabling:

I'm pretty sure it's not the cables but patchmix that's causing this. But I've pretty much tried every template, played around the the SENDs, and panned the PCI L/R's to hard left and right so that they're both pointing 90 away from each other. ASIO is configured properly in FB2k and patchmix tells me that there is no sound coming from the PCI Card In R strip, but there is in the L one.

If anyone could help I'd GREATLY appreicate it! I can honestly say I've read over every topic on headfi with the phrase '0404' in it

**Just a sidestory, but what was weird when I first bought Radioshack cables, that turned out to only have mono connections, was that when I plugged my speakers in I got sound in the from the left side, but if i switched the source plugs around it was the right side this time. Finally I tried my headphones and I was almost fooled thinking it was stereo, but turned out to be 2 mono channels from only either the R or L side, weird!

But anyway I solved that probem by buying the cabling at the above.

It's the cabling. The y-adapter you are using is 2 mono <-> 1 mono. You are sending 2 mono signals into it, and getting one mono signal out that is a combination of the first two signals. Then you are plugging a stereo plug into that mono jack, which results in the mono signal getting passed into the left channel.

The easiest Radio Shack cabling solution is to get two 1/4" mono to RCA adapters, to plug straight into the EMU and have 2 RCA jacks. Then, your amp has RCA jacks right? So you just get a basic set of RCA interconnects to go from the 2 adapters to your amp. Now, for your speakers, what you can do is take the RCA interconnects off and put on that RCA to 1/8" stereo cable you already have (you will be kind of using it in the opposite direction of how you are trying to use it now). Then all you need is a coupler (accepts 1/8" stereo plug into both sides).

I realize this is probably just making things more confusing.

Which plugs into 2 of these http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...t%5Fid=274-320 ? And to get to the speakers from the card I need the one cable I have plus a 1/8" coupler, gotcha.

It seems easy enough to get except for the 1/4" adapter. So it fits into one of the 0404's dongles, and I can actually hook RCA up to it?
